The St Helena Island Community’s mission is to uncover new information about St Helena Island, Moreton Bay through our own extensive research. We also want to share this information widely to heritage lovers, local people and potential visitors.
The St Helena Island Warders’ children’s cemetery eBook contains original research on the deaths and burials of Warders’ children on St Helena Island, researched by Belinda Daly in 2018. This information has changed our understanding of the lives of warder’s families on the island.
Visually, the actual Children’s cemetery contains only 6 headstones, and is dwarfed by the Prisoners’ cemetery situated nearby. But, as detailed in the eBook, the Warders’ Children’s cemetery has many more burials than has been previously recognised, including 6 new burials and 8 new deaths.
